Hello all,
I presented my “Apollo to Artemis and Beyond” exhibit at the Dyer Observatory Public Telescope Night 4/12 8:30-10:30 pm using spacecraft models of the Apollo LM, STS Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Soyuz & Progress and Artemis’s SLS, Orion and SpaceX Human Landing System. I premiered my new Lunar Gateway station with Orion docked too.
I also showed commercial space models of Blue Origin’s New Shepard, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 with Crew Dragon, Falcon Heavy and Starship. And Boeing’s Starliner on ULA Atlas V which is expected to launch its first crew to the ISS May 6. And Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser which is expected to launch cargo to the ISS as early as May.
I also presented a model of a proposed Moon base along with 3 rovers and several items made out of simulated lunar basaltic materials: tiles, rebar, rope and fiberglass woven cloth. I talked about how we will be able to use lunar materials for building shelters, landing pads, berms, furniture, cloth, and many other items. And how water ice will supply water for drinking, cooking, waging, growing food, and hydrogen and oxygen for breathing, engine fuel for rockets and rovers, and gases for industrial processing of lunar materials.
We had ~125 guests who also were able to look at several targets through different telescopes.
