Hello,
Chuck Schlemm, Nashville Outpost of the Moon Society, had a great space exploration exhibit at Nashville’s Adventure Science Center’s Engineering Week Sunday 2/23 from 9:00 to 5:00. There were ~1,400 visitors during the day.
Chuck Schlemm, Bridget Lynam and Mark Lynam spoke directly with ~240 guests at our exhibit of “Apollo to Artemis and Beyond“. We had 24’ of table space with models of Apollo, STS, ISS, Axiom Space’s commercial station, VAST’s Haven 1 and Stick commercial stations, China’s Tiangong station, SpaceX Dragons, Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, Starship and Super Heavy booster with launch tower, their HLS Moon lander and the Lunar Gateway Station. Also Blue Origin’s New Shepard, New Glenn and Blue Moon cargo and crew Moon landers, Boeing Starliner on Atlas, Sierra Space Dream Chaser, Moon and Mars bases, a Mars rover, Hubble & Webb telescopes and Voyager.
We exhibited a proposed Bigelow Aerospace Moon base along with Moon regolith simulant products: tile, fiberglass fabrics, rope and rebar. We also gave away Moon Society brochures.
With respect to Engineering Week, I explained the engineering steps that all of the spacecraft designs have gone through and emphasized that any of these youths can be a part of the engineering of their futures.
Below are some photos of our exhibit
Our next event is exhibiting at Vanderbilt’s Dyer Observatory 2/28 from 8-10:00. If clear skies, they will be observing the planets and stars too.
On Saturday 3/1, I will be observing at the BSAS star party at Bells Bend Outdoor Center 7-9:00.
You can see our plans in MTSS member emails and/or on the MTSS Facebook page.
Come join us. We hope to see you soon.
