Moon Society Nashville Outpost at Dyer Observatory Telescope Night 3/21/25

Hi all,

I represented MTSS by presenting my “Apollo to Artemis” exhibit at Vanderbilt’s Dyer Observatory’s Telescope Night on Friday 3/21 from 8:00-10:00 using spacecraft models of the Apollo Saturn V, LM, STS Space Shuttle, Soyuz and Artemis’s SLS, Orion, Lunar Gateway, and SpaceX and Blue Origin’s Human Landing Systems. Commercial space models shown were Blue Origin’s New Shepard, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 with Crew Dragon, Falcon Heavy and Starship, Boeing’s Starliner on ULA Atlas V and Axiom’s commercial space station. Photo below.

I discussed the Artemis 1 and 2 Orion missions, Artemis 3 and 4 SpaceX crew landing missions and Artemis 5 and 6 Blue Origin’s crew landing missions.

Lonnie Puterbaugh, another NASA Solar System Ambassador, exhibited his massive meteorite collection including a 3-4” piece of the Moon, 2 stony iron meteorites weighing ~8 & 16 pounds, a piece of asteroid Vesta and many more.  He may join me at my Nashvillle Symphony “Orchestra in Space” exhibition on 4/6.

The program was well received. I spoke directly with about 60 of their 185 guests.  I had some great questions and compliments.
