The Moon Society has been experimenting with beamed energy for many years.
There are many practical uses for beamed energy:
- Solar Power Satellites (SPS) in Geosynchronous Earth orbit could beam energy to Earth 24/7. This technology could completely end our need for fossil fuels and help reverse climate change.
- Solar Power Satellites in Lunar orbit could beam continuous energy to Lunar settlements, effectively negating the challenge of the 14-day Lunar night.
- Energy could be beamed to Cis-lunar spacecraft and satellites, allowing them to operate at a higher efficiency than if they had to rely solely on their onboard power.
